Income Tax slabs raised


Finance Minister P Chidambaram has announced changes in the Income Tax slabs. The threshold of exemption for all Income Tax assesses raised from from Rs  1,10,000 to Rs 1,50,000.

Every income tax assessees to get relief of minimum of Rs 4,000. New tax slabs will be: 10 per cent for 1,50,000 to 3,00,000, 20 per cent for 3,00,000 to 5,00,000 and 30 per cent above 5,00,000.

For women, the income tax limit goes up from Rs 1.45 lakh to Rs 1.80 lakh. In case of senior women citizens, it increases from Rs 1.95 lakh to Rs 2.25 lakh.

Reliance Natural Resources Fund debuts at Rs 10.1462

Reliance Natural Resources Fund debuted at Rs 10.1462 per unit, up 1.5% from its face value of Rs 10 per unit. The scheme, whose initial public offering closed on January 31, re-opened for fresh investments and sales.


Reliance Mutual Fund had attracted over Rs 5,660 crore with the launch Reliance Natural Resources Fund. This is the second highest collection by Reliance Capital AMC after Reliance Equity Fund, which had collected over Rs 5,700 crore from over 9.25 lakhs investors in March 2006.

Reliance Natural Resources Fund is an open-ended equity scheme, launched on January 1, 2008. The primary investment objective of the scheme is to seek to generate capital appreciation and provide long-term growth opportunities by investing in companies principally engaged in the discovery, development, production, or distribution of natural resources and the secondary objective is to generate consistent returns by investing in debt and money market securities.

Reliance Power offers 3-for-5-bonus share issue

Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) Reliance Power on Sunday set a 3-for-5-bonus share issue to cheer shareholders after a miserable debut into stock markets following a record three-billion dollars initial public offer (IPO).

Shareholders other than the founders will receive three bonus shares for every five held, effectively reducing the cost of the shares to 269 rupees for retail shareholders compared to a discounted IPO price of 430 rupees.
